Andre Basso

Andre Basso

Chief Executive Officer

Andre holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as well as an MBA in Management. With over two decades of experience designing and implementing customer service programs, his background as a business consultant brought Mountainside a fresh perspective regarding processes, client services, human resources, and team building. Andre first joined Mountainside as its Chief Operating Officer, working with various teams to seek efficiencies in the delivery of client care and services while further improving quality. Andre now serves as Chief Executive Officer at Mountainside and continues to dedicate himself to providing clients with Best in Class service. In his leisure time, Andre enjoys reading, watching movies, and exploring Connecticut with his family.

Randall Dwenger

Randall Dwenger

Chief Medical Officer

MD

Dr. Dwenger is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and completed residency training at the Institute of Living in Hartford. He is board-certified in both Psychiatry and in Addiction Medicine. His career path has included a variety of experiences, including developing and managing a detox center, directing an Adolescent Chemical Dependency program, and extensive work with veterans through the Veterans Administration. Throughout his 30-year career, Dr. Dwenger has built extensive knowledge in Addiction Treatment and is skilled in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and individual psychotherapy services. At Mountainside, where he has been caring for clients since 2008, he provides guidance and leadership over the detoxification program, utilizing safe, medically-monitored treatment delivered with competence and compassion to help our clients as they begin this journey of recovery.

Alexandra Helfer

Chief Clinical Officer

LPC, LMHC, LADC, CASAC Master

Alexandra is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and an Advanced Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor. She holds a Master of Science in Counselor Education, with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Alexandra has also completed basic training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Alexandra has 13 years of experience in the substance abuse field in both a clinical and administrative capacity. In acknowledgment of her efforts in the industry, she was recognized as the inaugural winner for the Young Professionals Award through the Connecticut Certification Board. As Chief Clinical Officer at Mountainside, where she has worked for over a decade, she is charged with creating a true integrative health and evidence-based model of treatment. With a strong understanding of client needs, she develops and oversees execution of new and effective treatment modalities into programming for every level of care. She is a firm believer in the person-centered approach to behavioral health treatment and ensures opportunities for client empowerment are woven into all clients’ experience. Throughout Mountainside’s continuum of care, Alex is responsible for program expansion, accreditation, corporate compliance, and quality assurance. In her leisure time, Alex can be found reading at the beach and spending time with her nephews.

Dan Smith

Dan Smith

Vice President, Strategic Operations

Dan is a Certified Addiction Counselor and a Certified Recovery Coach Trainer. As an advocate for people in recovery, he works with legislators and community leaders to improve access to quality addiction treatment. Through community development initiatives, he empowers local leaders and educators to push for legislation that removes barriers to care. Dan has extensive experience running extended care and sober living facilities and uses his expertise to provide residents with the assistance they need to achieve a sustainable recovery. As Vice President of Strategic Operations, Dan is responsible for maintaining focused and driven business operations, project management, and execution. Since joining Mountainside in 2014, he continues to assist Mountainside in roll out of new, innovative strategies to reach vulnerable populations on a greater scale and ensure the efficacy of treatment for all clients. Outside of work, Dan volunteers his time serving as the President of Connecticut Alliance of Recovery Residences.
