Join us on the first and third Sunday of every month for As the Page Turns, Mountainside Chelsea's virtual book club.

About This Event

This unprecedented public health crisis has made it imperative that the recovery community stay connected socially and stimulated intellectually. What better way to solve this modern quandary than with a virtual book club?

This week Mountainside presents Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods".

"A Walk in the Woods" is more than just a laugh-out-loud hike. Bryson's acute eye is a wise witness to this fragile and beautiful trail. As he tells the fascinating history of the AT, he also makes a moving plea for the conservation of America's last great wilderness.

About the Author

Following Bill Bryson's return to America, after twenty years in Britain, he decides to reacquaint himself with his native country by walking the 2100-mile Appalachian Trail . The AT, as it's affectionately known to thousands of hikers, offers an astonishing landscape of silent forests and sparkling lakes. To a writer with the comic genius of Bill Bryson, the AT also provides endless opportunities to test one's own powers of ineptitude, and to witness the majestic silliness of his fellow human beings.
