Addiction Treatment Programs at Mountainside Canaan
Mountainside Canaan offers comprehensive addiction treatment services for adults, adolescents, and families who need clinically focused care in a supportive environment. Behind every program is a dedicated, multidisciplinary team that approaches each client’s care with clinical precision and genuine compassion.
Using a data-informed approach, our team builds each treatment plan around the client’s specific needs, history, goals, and recommended level of care. Whether someone is entering treatment for the first time, returning after a recurrence, or stepping into care at another point in their recovery journey, we offer the structure, guidance, and continuity to help them move forward.
Medical Detox
Medical detox is often the first step for people who are physically dependent on drugs or alcohol. At Mountainside Canaan, clients receive 24/7 medical support to help manage withdrawal symptoms, stay as comfortable as possible, and begin recovery safely.
Our detox care may include medical evaluations, withdrawal monitoring, clinical support, recovery education, and planning for the next level of treatment. Our team combines clinical best practices with holistic support, making the process as safe and comfortable as possible while keeping you connected to the care that follows.
Residential Treatment
Residential Treatment gives you the time, space, and structure to focus fully on recovery away from everyday triggers and stressors. At Mountainside Canaan, our residential care combines clinical therapy, addiction education, wellness services, psychiatric support, and community connection in a peaceful setting.
Clients live on campus and participate in a full daily schedule of clinical programming, wellness therapies, and community-based recovery activities. This immersive setting allows the care team to address the root causes of addiction, not only the symptoms, while helping each client build relapse-prevention skills, healthier routines, and a stronger foundation for long-term recovery.
Learn About Residential Treatment
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers intensive support for clients who need more structure than the usual traditional outpatient care but do not require 24/7 residential treatment. PHP can be a helpful step after residential care or a strong option for people who need focused support while continuing to live outside of an inpatient setting.
At Mountainside Canaan, PHP provides structured clinical programming five days a week, giving clients continued daytime support as they stabilize early recovery, address co-occurring mental health needs, and practice the skills needed for daily life.
Extended Care
Extended Care gives clients more time to practice sober living skills while continuing to receive support from professionals and peers. This program is designed for people who are ready to build greater independence but still benefit from structure, accountability, and a recovery-focused community.
Over four progressive phases, clients strengthen routines, practice self-care, build life skills, and gradually take on more independence while staying connected to clinical care, peer support, and the foundation built during residential treatment.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a higher level of outpatient support for people who need regular, structured care but do not require residential treatment.
Over eight weeks, clients participate in group therapy three times per week and individual counseling once per week, building a consistent rhythm of care around their schedule. IOP provides them with the clinical framework, peer support, and practical skills needed to better understand their relationship with substances and sustain a lasting recovery.
Outpatient Program (OP)
Our Outpatient Program (OP) is for anyone stepping down from a more intensive level of care or who would benefit from ongoing treatment with greater flexibility. This level of care combines therapeutic guidance with practical recovery planning.
This 10-week program combines group therapy and individual counseling, focusing on rebuilding stability, repairing relationships, strengthening trust, and creating a strong foundation for long-term recovery while clients continue managing daily responsibilities.
Recovery Coaching
Recovery coaching gives you practical, one-on-one support from a trained coach who deeply understands the recovery process. This kind of coaching can be used on its own or alongside clinical treatment, depending on the person.
As a form of peer recovery support, coaching pairs clients with a certified recovery coach who brings both lived experience and professional training to the recovery process. Coaching can be helpful at any stage of care, whether someone is new to recovery, enrolled in IOP or OP, stepping down from a higher level of treatment, or looking for additional support outside formal clinical sessions.
