Huntington, NY – Mountainside treatment center’s Huntington facility was awarded Best Addiction Rehabilitation Center for the third year in a row by Bethpage Best of Long Island. The contest, held annually for the last 17 years, acknowledges programs with exceptional performance in categories such as Health and Wellness, Arts and Entertainment, and Education. Mountainside, which opened its outpatient alcohol and drug addiction treatment center in Suffolk County just under three years ago, hopes this recognition will hearten community members struggling with substance use disorders to know that professional help is available close to home.

Mountainside Huntington provides flexible treatment services to those who are unable to take time away from their professional or personal commitments to attend inpatient addiction treatment. The location offers three levels of programming – Intensive Outpatient, Recovery Maintenance, and Individual Therapy – personalized for each client’s unique needs.

Mountainside Huntington’s outpatient services include:

  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Family and Couples Counseling
  • Psychiatric Services
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment
  • Recovery Coaching
  • Adolescent Services

Mountainside, with centers across Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, opened its Huntington outpatient center in June of 2019 to combat the opioid crisis devastating Long Island. Provisional 2021 data from the CDC shows that there have been an estimated 100,306 drug overdose deaths in the United States in the 12-month period ending in April 2021, an increase of 28.5% over the past year. Powerful opioid analogs, such as fentanyl and carfentanil, are contributing factors behind this alarming trend. In Nassau County, there were 214 fatal overdoses in 2021 with 84% attributed to fentanyl. In Suffolk County, data estimates 370 fatal overdoses for 2021 with fentanyl as a big concern as well as evidenced in recent spate of deaths due to fentanyl-laced cocaine.

With fentanyl becoming an increasing threat, Mountainside Huntington aims to spread awareness on substance misuse in its surrounding communities and provide support and treatment for those in need. Starting March 17, Mountainside Huntington will be offering a free in-person support group for individuals struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction. Free virtual support groups are also offered daily for community members unable to attend in person. For more information, visit https://mountainside.com/support-groups

“People with substance use disorders need greater access to quality treatment programs and support than ever before, and we are honored to connect Long Islanders with the care they deserve,” says Courtney Hulse, LMFT, Mountainside Huntington Program Manager. “Mountainside’s mission has always been to treat clients as we would our own family members, and this additional recognition by Bethpage inspires us to continue enhancing our programming.”
