Canaan, CT—Since its opening in 1998, Mountainside Treatment Center in Canaan, CT has been nationally-recognized as one of the leading providers of clinically-effective drug and alcohol addiction treatment in the country. On February 26, 2014, the rehabilitation center celebrated its 16th year in operation.
“When we started Mountainside, our intention was to deliver a level of care that simply wasn’t available at the time. We were the first rehab center in the country to introduce holistic healing practices like yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and other Traditional Chinese Medicine elements into our evidence-based treatment curriculums,” mentioned a Mountainside spokesperson. “From our initial success in bridging those methodologies through the development of our newest programs, facilities, and treatment options, Mountainside has remained steadfastly focused on innovation and how we can better provide for the needs of our clients.”
In addition to it being among the country’s first holistic rehabs, Mountainside was also one of the first rehabs to address treatment needs on an individual, by-client basis. With its emphasis on customized plans, the treatment center has been able to help more than 6,000 clients overcome their addictions. As a further example of Mountainside’s dedication to helping individuals overcome addiction, the rehab will soon be completing construction on a brand new, state-of-the-art 50,000 square-foot rehab facility designed to provide additional, much needed services to those suffering from substance abuse.
The new facility will house a dedicated 20-bed detox center, the first of its kind to utilize acupuncture, yoga, and other Mind, Body, and Spirit practices to help clients detox more comfortably and effectively. Also included in the new facility is a comprehensive family wellness center. Since family and social support is proven to play such a significant role in relapse prevention, Mountainside’s new family wellness center aims to not only educate client families but also to help them heal so that families are better empowered to support their loved ones through recovery.
Later in 2014, Mountainside will further strengthen its commitment to clients by introducing two new programs to help those who may need more or less intensive care and services versus a standard residential program. For clients who need less, Mountainside’s new outpatient treatment program will offer the same quality of care as its primary program but with greater flexibility so that clients can more easily integrate addiction treatment into their everyday life schedule. Mountainside’s new extended care program will, meanwhile, provide clients who need more assistance reintegrating back into community living with a longer period of structured support combined with opportunities to develop marketable work and life skills.
While Mountainside continues to address the ever-changing treatment needs of its clients, one constant in the rehab center’s longevity and success is the quality of its team of treatment professionals. Comprised of licensed and certified counselors, social workers, a Nurse Practitioner, a Registered Nurse, and a Psychiatrist with a specialty in addiction care, the rehab center’s multi-disciplinary team are experts at creating and administering the rehab’s advanced, individualized treatment plans. It is this unique, customized approach to addiction treatment that has made the Mountainside Treatment Center the national model for effective addiction rehabilitation and recovery for the past 16 years.
“We at Mountainside want to issue a heartfelt thank you to all of our employees and partners, both past and present. Your expertise, caring, and enduring commitment to the improvement of addiction treatment as a whole has played an integral role in helping us change the lives of so many people for the better. It is with this same level of dedication and determination that we will forge Mountainside’s future,” added the spokesperson.
