Saying Goodbye to My Addiction

Mountainside M Logo By Mountainside

Dear Addiction,

I was asked to write a letter to you. I’m glad I took time to think about what I wanted to say to you instead of hastily writing down that you suck and if I could kill you with my bare hands I would. But, thinking about it a lot deeper than that and how funny this may sound but, I actually have to thank you.

This is a goodbye letter, so after this, we will never communicate again!

The reason I wanted to thank you is that by not using for the past 21 days, my outlook on my life and purpose of being here is clear. Yes, my road so far is a short one, but you will not hold me back anymore from what I want and the desire to live the rest of my life!

By taking away a good portion of my life, I resent you for that. I will no longer feel guilty, be ashamed or embarrassed about who I am or how I act around family, friends, and co-workers. I’ve set the bar so high for myself now that there is no time for you in my life or my family’s life.

So, back to thanking you for now letting me see through the clearest eyes I’ve looked through in a while and to see the raw potential I have a as a man, husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and friend. You thought you were going to get the better of me but I proved you wrong again today! And if all I have is day to day, I’ll take it because we are through. Good luck with your next sucker.

– Jeff

P.S. Don’t come knocking or calling – I WON’T answer!
