So There I was

So There I was

By Nan

So there I was, my right arm wrapped around the steering wheel and my head halfway through the windshield. My skull shattered in bloody bits and the rest of my body torn apart in the driver’s seat.

Oh, but now I see my right hand laying palm up in the passenger seat ⎼ sinewy and salty looking. No coincidence the middle finger missing. And so there I was, spirit soaring ⎼ not high in the sky like we imagine in heaven, but sort of hovering fast, as low light when lightening hits the ground.
