Joyce Faraj, PhD, RDN, CDN
A graduate from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst School of Public Health, Dr. Joyce Faraj is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She has extensive experience in clinical research related to nutrition and chronic disease prevention. Her interests in the field of nutritional psychiatry have led her to research how anti-inflammatory properties of foods can affect depression. At Mountainside, Joyce partners closely with our medical, clinical, food service, and mind-body-spirit departments to integrate nutrition as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Dr. Joyce Faraj is a strong believer in the impact of experiential learning on nutrition knowledge, and applies hands-on nutrition education in her group settings. In individual counseling sessions, she employs motivational interviewing to guide clients towards improving their overall dietary patterns, while emphasizing mindful eating to strengthen the creation of healthy habits that promote sobriety. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, playing soccer, volleyball, painting and jewelry making, and spending time with her family and her dog.
