Day 1: Beginning the Trip

Beginning the Trip

Day 1

3:00 am came early, but everyone was in great spirits with anticipation of what was about to come.

Day 1

The sun had yet to rise but everyone was in great spirits with anticipation of what was about to come. We left the sober home at 3:30 AM, meeting very little traffic until we were close to the airport. We had the perfect amount of time to arrive, get through customs, and have breakfast. We even spent a bit of time catching up with everyone before loading the aircraft.

By the time we landed, the guys were dragging just a bit and hunger had set in. Our drive to the hotel exposed us to Mexico City’s rush hour, back roads, culture, and adventure. Our hotel is just a stone’s throw away from the pyramids. By the time we arrived, we were all grateful to see Mountainside’s Executive Director Steve Langley greeting us with some beverages and snacks by the pool.

We had some downtime to unpack and get acclimated to our surroundings.  After an evening swim, we all met up with the Ruiz Family for a short meeting and a delicious traditional dinner. The Ruiz brothers’ energy shined, and their excitement was contagious. We are in store for some deep, reflective teachings and connection.

Tomorrow, I will lead a morning session of Qi Gong and meditation before breakfast, so we can begin our day in the most mindful way. The hotel is very comfortable, and even though it’s only 8:30 PM, most of the guys are heading to bed as it feels like a long but satisfying day.
