Outpatient Services FAQs

What outpatient services do you offer?

Mountainside offers three options for Outpatient Services: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Outpatient Program (OP) and Individual Therapy (IT). As part of treatment, you will have access to individual and group counseling, family therapy, psychiatric services, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including Suboxone, Sublocade, and Vivitrol, toxicology screenings, and wellness therapies. Services are provided on an as needed basis as determined by your clinician.

Do you accept insurance?

We work with most private insurance companies on an out-of-network basis. We strive to help all our clients get the help they need and can discuss private payment options if needed.

What is the structure of your Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Our IOP is a 7-week program with 12 hours of group counseling in the first three weeks and then 9 hours of group counseling in the remaining four weeks. Also included in IOP are three individual one-on-one sessions with a licensed clinician.

Our clinical structure is a mix of psychotherapy and psychoeducation utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness and Grounding Techniques.

Who runs your IOP program?

Our IOP is facilitated by our professional licensed clinicians. We also have guest speakers who come in to share their knowledge and experiences.

Can I receive psychiatric treatment without having to do therapy?

No, because we firmly believe that sustainable recovery is best achieved by a combination of both psychiatric services and therapy, we do not offer psychiatric treatments on their own.

Most appointments will be completed via video conferencing through Microsoft Teams applications which you can use on your computer, tablet, or phone. Audio/Phone calls will be used a second option if video conferencing is not available.

Can I join a clinical group or individual session from anywhere if I am a virtual client?

Clients are encouraged to join groups and sessions from a quiet and private place. Mountainside is able to provide services to the residents of CT, NY, MA, and NJ, and you can be anywhere in your home state at the time of an appointment. We are unable to provide clinical services to anyone who is not present in their home state at the time of service.

Yes. To be a part of the virtual outpatient programs, clients will need to be able to visit their local quest diagnostics medical office.  Frequency depends on the level of care you are in (IOP VS OP), and your current treatment needs.
