New York, NY — As New York City continues to struggle with an ongoing drug and mental health crisis, Mountainside treatment center officially unveiled its upgraded hub for recovery to the community. Mountainside NYC’s expanded range of substance abuse treatment programs and support services comes at a critical time.
New York City saw a nearly 80 percent jump in drug overdoses from 2019 to 2021, and 2022’s official toll is expected to be even higher. On average, the city has a fatal drug overdose death every three hours. The enhanced Mountainside NYC facility will provide New Yorkers with an extensive range of services including outpatient counseling, medical and psychiatric services, recovery coaching, support groups, and wellness events to promote total, holistic healing.
NYC Council Member Erik Bottcher, a strong advocate for increased mental health and substance abuse services in the city, attended Mountainside NYC’s open house and ribbon cutting. Sharing concerns about the ever-increasing presence of harmful substances in the city, from marijuana to fentanyl and xylazine, Council Member Bottcher stated, “It’s a great day for New York to have this incredible new facility. On an individual level, it’s a great day for each person who is going to benefit from these services.”
