Canaan, CT – Holidays are a time for food, family, fun – and often, stress. Uncomfortable situations or unhealthy family dynamics can trigger substance use in those struggling with addiction, or push people in recovery to return to unhealthy behaviors. Mountainside treatment center is offering two free services, a helpline and virtual meetings, to help people in recovery or in active addiction overcome any challenges they may face this holiday season.
This year for the first time, Mountainside is opening its Holiday Helpline to the public, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week between November 25 and January 6. Community members can dial the helpline at 833-200-6665.
Mountainside is also providing online, virtual support for people in recovery who are unable to attend fellowship meetings during the holidays – whether due to distance, time, or inclement weather. Beginning December 3, the groups will take place on Tuesdays, beginning at 6:30 PM EST and will run through January 7. The meetings will be based on 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The meetings will be facilitated by Nicole Cordani, Recovery Support Clinician at Mountainside.
