Overview

Whether this is your first step towards sobriety, or you need some extra support maintaining your recovery, our outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment services provide you with the individualized treatment you need to find success in your recovery goals. To make our services accessible to as many people as possible, our outpatient addiction treatment services are available in-person and via telehealth using HIPAA-compliant technology. Meeting you where you are in your recovery, we offer two options for outpatient care: our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program (OP). To strengthen your sobriety and supplement your treatment experience, our outpatient programs combine group therapy and individual counseling with a variety of wellness offerings and support services.

Mountainside has 6 conveniently located outpatient centers in the Northeast. Each location has been designed to provide a warm and welcoming environment for individuals to concentrate on healing.

For individuals seeking flexible addiction treatment options that accommodate distance or scheduling needs, our Virtual Outpatient Program is a popular and effective solution. Our telehealth services give you access to the treatment you need from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or school with secure and easy-to-use technology.

Our Virtual Outpatient Program provides the same high-quality services that define the Mountainside brand, offering added flexibility in access as well as additional case management support. Our experienced and dedicated case managers proactively connect you with local recovery and wellness resources from recovery coaches and physicians to gyms and support groups. In times of crisis, case managers are ready to be an immediate source of help.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment Programs

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Tailored to those in the early stages of recovery, this seven-week, 24 session intensive program focuses on managing withdrawal symptoms, recognizing triggers, and gaining a better understanding of alcoholism and drug addiction. Through the individual therapy component of the program, you work closely with an experienced clinician to address recovery issues unique to you. During group therapy, you gain fresh perspectives and learn from others’ experiences as you tackle common obstacles faced in early recovery. IOP group therapy sessions may address the following topics: Addiction as a Disease, Co-Occurring Disorders, Creating a Support Network, Mindfulness, Cross Addiction, Managing Cravings, Building a Relapse Prevention Plan, Positive Communication, Setting Healthy Boundaries, Life Management, and more.

Outpatient Program (OP)

Designed to build on fundamental recovery skills, this ten-week program focuses on repairing the damage caused by addiction, rebuilding trust, developing healthy relationships, and establishing a sober network. Both individual and group therapy play an important role in treatment. Individual therapy focuses on helping individuals with their unique recovery issues. Our dedicated clinicians support you through obstacles as you continue to develop and hone the skills and abilities you need for long-term recovery. As part of our OP programming, you have the opportunity to choose from and participate in the following clinical groups. All groups meet once a week, for 10 weeks.

  • Recovery Maintenance- Reinforces your recovery by helping you better understand your triggers, develop coping skills, and practice relapse prevention. This group utilizes Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
  • Women’s Empowerment- Focuses on how addiction impacts women by addressing issues such as self-esteem, honesty and authenticity, body image, balancing self-care and coping skills, anger and resentment, communication, and overcoming stigma. This group utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Co-Occurring Disorders- Explores the connection between mental health and addiction while helping you tackle fear and anxiety, sadness and depression, anger, guilt and shame, emotional reasoning, self-blame, and catastrophizing. This group utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Remembrance and Mourning- Provides a better understanding of the different stages of grief, enabling you to accept the reality of your loss, work through the pain, learn how to live without your loved one, remain connected, and embark on a new life. This group implements Narrative Therapy, Somatic Psychology, and Grief Therapy Model: Worden’s Four Tasks of Grieving.
  • Integrative Healing- Emphasizes the importance of the mind-body connection through a range of educational wellness practices, allowing you to create deeper bonds with yourself and others. This group implements Somatic Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

Medical & Psychiatric Services

Our wide range of medical and psychiatric services help evaluate how substance use has affected your physical and mental health. Through a series of evaluations, medical exams, and continuous monitoring we better understand how addiction has impacted you and are able to determine the best course of action to address your specific recovery needs.

Sessions to determine your mental health needs, including checking for the presence of co-occurring disorders such as anxiety or depression.

Q: What outpatient services do you offer?

Mountainside offers two options for Outpatient Services: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program (OP). As part of treatment, you will have access to individual and group counseling, family therapy, psychiatric services, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including SuboxoneSublocade, and Vivitrol, toxicology screenings, and wellness therapies. Services are provided on an as needed basis as determined by your clinician.

Q: Can I join a clinical group or individual session from anywhere if I am a virtual client?

Mountainside is able to provide services to the residents of CT, NY, MA, and NJ, and you can be anywhere in your home state at the time of an appointment. We are unable to provide clinical telehealth services to anyone who is not present in their home state at the time of service.
